Regulations for the Hatsford Targa Road Rally will be available here on Tuesday 25th June.

We will be offering an event based on “same as usual”. If it isn’t broken, we won’t be trying to fix it! However, we always learn from previous years’ Hatsford Targas and other events too. We hope that you will continue to support us in offering real grass-roots motor sport.

There will be approximately 32 miles of competitive route, split into 6 tests.

Once the regs have been published, please make sure that you read the section on tyres (ASR 11). These will be the same as in previous Hatsford Targas. Follow the link (which will be shown here) to the MTC1 Entry System.

Entries will open at 1900 on Tuesday 2nd July at 1900.

There will be an Interclub event for championship contenders and others with Interclub Competition Licences. There will also be a Clubman event which is for those with only RS Clubman Competition Licences and who are members of one of the invited Clubs.

Please complete entries IN FULL – no blanks or tba’s please, or they will not be accepted. ASR 12.

If your acknowledged entry number is more than 60, please do not pay until asked to do so by the organising Club. ASR 13.

After practising some navigation at home in the warmth of your kitchen or dining table, this is the next step to getting out on the roads in real life.  You’ll have 2 hours to plot the route and drive 20 miles.  The plotting will be about 25 to 30 map references on the local Map 162.  This accurate plotting will give you the route, and then you have to follow that route on the road.  Along the route, you will hopefully see about 30 codeboards.  These codeboards are placed along the correct route and are not hidden – though some may be quite low around the grass triangles.
As the event is timed at a genuine 10mph, it is designated a Treasure Hunt so no extra insurance should be required.  The entry fee is just £8 to cover the cost of the permit.

Good day to all competitors,
…but it’s not really very good!

The Hatsford Targa Road Rally is being postponed to 20th August because of the ground conditions.

We have not taken this decision lightly, but the ground is still too soft after the wettest July since 2017 (and 2007, of course). We have had nearly six inches of rain here in July.  Just ten cars would leave fairly deep tracks and damage the land too much.  If it was going to be dry with a decent wind for the next week, then it might be OK, but the forecast is for some rain every day, and there would be no chance of us being able to run a decent event. You wouldn’t be thanking us!

Some forecasts (and we have looked at a lot!) seem to think that the weather will settle down after about 8th August, so we are going to postpone rather than cancel and move the event (lock, stock and barrel) to Sunday 20th August.

The change of date will mean that the event cannot be part of the ASWMC Targa Championship, but it will still be part of the Cotswold Targa Championship.

Those who cannot make (or prefer not to compete on) the new date, will get a full refund of entry fee – and membership fees, if paid.  It would be helpful if one crew member from each car would e-mail me in the next day or so to inform me of whether you will be competing on the new date or not and therefore accept the original ‘paperwork’ and entry declarations etc onto the new date.

Those that cannot compete on the new date and wish to have a refund, please e-mail me with your bank sort code, bank account number and the EXACT name on the account.  Those who paid by PayPal will get their refund through PayPal not BACS.

We are very sorry that it has come to this and regret any loss of enjoyment for you, but rest assured that we have been forced into this.  We will make a final decision on Sunday 13th, about whether to run on 20th August.  If not then, it will be cancelled for this year.

NavEx which is held on public roads for a maximum of 12 cars. The two Competitors (Driver and Navigator) solve navigational clues to find the correct route. These events are held in the evening over about 50 miles and they last about 3 hours. Virtually any standard car is suitable.

Thank you to all the competitors who supported the event, and thank you to all the fabulous marshals who kept the crews safe and accurate.  We were blessed with a bright and sunny day – and with a cool wind.  Let us hope that we can run the event again, next year.
